We had a 10-hour layover in Singapore, and with two Formula 1-obsessed boys, visiting a karting venue was at the top of their wish list. When we arrived, every time slot for the day was completely sold out. Still, thanks to the manager’s special touch and genuine kindness, our kids were accommodated, with Wilson going above and beyond to make it happen. Thank you for fitting us in and turning what could have been a disappointing stopover into one of the highlights of our time in Singapore. It truly made our day so much better.

Ernest showed a very professional attitude when dealing with customers. Instead of trying to please them at the attractions, his actions effectively ensured that patrons would think twice before coming back again. Honestly, I wish I had a coworker like Ernest—someone who helps chase customers away—so my job would be much more chill. Came earlier than 7pm, somehow still got blamed for being “late.” We booked through Travelodka. The listing clearly showed Game of Karts, but the tickets issued were for Senior Kart. We understood this was likely Travelodka’s mistake. Credit where it’s due: Atikah handled it properly and emailed us the correct ticket details so we could clarify. Then things went downhill. Our queue number was skipped, and they called next number instead. When we asked about it, the staff downstairs immediately accused us of being late and kept pushing our timeslot back—even though we were there early. Apparently, getting skipped in the system is now the customer’s fault. We were worried about missing UltraGolf, so we asked to play earlier since we didn’t do anything wrong. Atikah later informed us that UltraGolf staff agreed to let us enter slightly later, but that meant we had to rush because UltraGolf closes at 9pm. Despite all this, we were fine. Atikah did proper customer recovery by switching us to Game of Karts (instead of the wrongly issued Senior Kart ticket). We played, finished the game, and were chatting briefly afterward. That’s when a staff member named Earnest decided to shine. Instead of doing his job, he repeatedly nagged at us in a sarcastic tone, telling us to hurry to UltraGolf or “later you blame us.” Funny thing is—we were early. The delay was caused by staff skipping our queue number, not us. When we spoke up, Earnest didn’t apologise. He laughed. Professional, right? Later, the coworker came over—not to de-escalate, but to accuse us of shouting at his friend. No attempt to correct the sarcasm, no apology, just pure defensiveness. We were already leaving peacefully until Ernest decided to add one more unnecessary comment to stir things up. As we were leaving, we were told, “No one plays golf at night.” Then why are there floodlights at UltraGolf, and why is the operating hour clearly stated until 9pm? Overall, the staff were untrained, sarcastic, and unprofessional. Customer service here doesn’t retain customers—it actively chases them away. If that’s the goal, congratulations, mission accomplished.

Truly an unforgettable customer service experience. Special shoutout to Earnest, whose mastery of sarcasm and laughter under pressure is nothing short of impressive. Instead of the usual boring apologies or solutions, he chose to keep things entertaining with nagging comments and a mocking tone. If the goal is to remind customers how not to feel welcome, this was executed flawlessly. Five stars for consistency.

Fantastic experience in learning how problems are handled here. We arrived early, but our queue number was skipped, and when the next number was called, that somehow meant we were “late.” Makes total sense. Special thanks to Earnest, who patiently waited until after our race, when we were already leaving, to restart the issue—even after things had already been resolved. By responding with sarcasm and laughing when we argued back, he somehow managed to blame us for a mistake that wasn’t ours. Earnest was kind and thoughtful, as he felt the need to rush us to the next attraction, complete with a warm warning that we’d “blame them later,” which was a nice touch. Truly impressive consistency in avoiding accountability. Five stars for turning a simple issue into a memorable experience.
